Goodfellow Family Cellars Chardonnay "Psycho Killer" '21

"Every year for each individual white grape pick, we give the barrels a set of related names. We’ve done groups like the characters of the Princess Bride (2012 Whistling Ridge Chardonnay) to David Bowie personas (2013 Durant Chardonnay) to 1970s TV detectives (2016 Whistling Ridge Pinot Gris). The 2021 Temperance Hill barrels were named after my then 4-year-old’s favorite songs. The group included songs by the Ramones, the Cure, and Wall of Voodoo, but the absolute standout was an 820-liter puncheon named after “Psycho Killer” by the Talking Heads. 

Mandarin curd, hazelnut, iris and white lilac. Shell and stone. Textural, intense, densely rich, yet with great finishing acidity and extraordinary persistence. This is the very best of an already exceptional year for Chardonnay from Temperance Hill Vineyard.
